Cold Sores or Herpes Simplex is highly contagious viral infection leading to a tingling sensation followed by a painful blister which begins to weep. This then forms a scab. Antiviral agents such as Aciclovir ( Zovirax, Soothelip ) are very effective if used early in the infection.
