An allergy is an over reaction of the immune system which occurs to normally harmless substances. Symptoms develop only after several exposures to the allergen ( the substance causing the allergy ). Almost anything can be an allergen for someone. Pollen, house dust mite faeces, pets, mould spores, certain foods are all allergens.
General symptoms include sneezing, sinus pain, runny or blocked nose, coughing or wheezing, rash, swelling, itching or water eyes.
Best way of minimising allergies is to avoid getting in contact with the allergen.
