Colds are caused by viruses and are contagious infection of the the upper respiratory tract. Typical symptoms are sore throat, sneezing , fever, headache, nasal congestion and watery eyes.
As the cause is a virus there is not a cure for a cold. Treatment is directed towards easing the symptoms.
Lozenges for sore throats, pain killer to relieve headache and general pain, cough mixtures to relieve cough and congestion.
You should see a GP if a cold last more than two weeks.
