Thrush is caused by a yeast like organism, Candida albicans. Symptoms include itching, soreness, redness and swelling. A thick white discharge is also common.
First time sufferers, anyone who has had more than two attacks in the last six months, pregnant and breast feeding women, girls under 16 or women over 60 years, women having blood stain discharge, have abdominal pain, difficulty in passing urine, fever, diarrhoea, nausea or vomiting, have ulcers or blisters, previous history of STD or no improvement in 7 days should consult their doctor before self-treatment.
